Post by jackp42 on Apr 25, 2006, 5:21pm

This coming Saturday April 29 is Hardwood Hills annual opening day and demo day. Many bikes to try for free, and your trail pass is free for the day if you down load the coupon off their web site.
If you like riding Hardwood Hills, are in the market for a new bike or just like to check out what's new, its a fun day.

Skiis & Bikkes has there customer appriciation day/demo day coming at Kelso on Sunday May 28. Preregistration is required. Again trail passes and bike demo's are free as well as a free BBQ lunch. How can you go wrong.

I was at Hardwood on the weekend, looks like a great place to ride. Single track, north shore stuff, mini 4X track and "bone shaker"

If you have that day free, I strongly suggest going, and the best part....it is FREE!! (remember to download the coupon)

I was planning on going but everyone I was planning to go with bailed, so I decided to do some much needed yard instead. Can't believe I passed this up. Planning on making the Kelso one at the end of this month.

It's that time of year again.
In case anyone is interested, Hardwood Hills is having their mtb season opening day and demo day this coming Saturday April 28.
The demo's are free but you need to pay for a trail pass. If you go to their web site http://www.hardwoodhills.ca/ you can print out a coupon which will get you a few dollars off. Use to be free, but no longer.
Still a good day of riding and an opportunity to try some new bikes.

Not sure if I'm going at this point.

Is anyone planning on heading up this Saturday?

I'm planning on heading up to Hardwood Hills on Saturday. Probably aiming to be there around 10am. I'm going up with a buddy, but I think we'd have room for a third person & bike if you want to meet me in Mississauga or in the Hwy 400 & Hwy 7 area to carpool.

I was up there last year for the demo day, and the Trek/Gary Fisher demo team was there with a large complement of bikes. About 30, if I remember correctly. I wonder if they'll be that well represented this time, though. The Trek demo tour website (http://www.ridethebesttour.com/region.php?region_id=1&type=7) suggests that the demo team is in Buffalo on Saturday. Last year it did show them being at HH.

Not sure if I'm going yet. Would like to but have other things to do as well.
I guess I'll make a decision tomorrow.

I am going to go. I'm looking to specifically ride a specialized epic, kona hei hei(or similar suspension design from kona) and a trek top fuel model.

And anything else that just so happens to turn me on.

I need to replace my bike. It's old and worn.

I don't think you'll see any Kona bikes there, but Specialized, Trek/Gary Fisher, and Rocky Mountain are all supposed to be there.

So, johnp, from reading your New Toys post, it looks like you went shopping today and replaced that "old and worn" bike. Are you still going to head up to HH Saturday and compare it with other bikes?

My intentions are to still go up to Hardwood. I'm just getting ready to go now. 8-)

Weather looks ??? but I've been looking forward to going all week so nothing is going to stop me lol.

Yeh I bought an epic last night. I got a pretty good deal with respect to upgrading all the parts I didn't like and for a good price. I kinda wish I could have tested a kona hei hei, but nobody stocks them anywhere. Oh well, I'm happy with what I got. I'll post a review after a few rides.

I went up to Hardwood Hills for the demo day today. Riding conditions were great. That sandy soil is great after a rain. And I do like those HH trails.

There were a few vendors there. The Trek / Gary Fisher booth had the largest selection of bikes. Maybe a dozen? I didn't actually count. Devinci, Rocky Mountain, Scott, Opus, and Norco were there with generally about 6 bikes each. There was a Specialized booth, but I think I only saw 3 bikes. What's the deal? Isn't Specialized just about the biggest bike company around????

The bike selection was decent if you need a 17 inch frame. There were a couple of 19 inch frames here and there, but I only saw one 21 inch: a nice Opus bike. The Trek/Gary Fisher people had some 19 inch frames, but they convinced Hardwood Hills to lend me a 21 inch Trek hardtail from their rental fleet. Not the sort of bike I had hoped to test, but better than nothing.

I spoke with the manager at Hardwood, and he said that they've been talking with the traveling Trek / Gary Fisher demo team to see if they'll return this summer. That's a different collection of bikes than we saw today, and that's the demo I went to last year. If that does get scheduled, I will post a note on this board to let people know.
